Chalet le Chatelard. Newly build in the traditional Savoyard style, this
chalet has 3 large double bedrooms. In addition one bedroom has a bunk bed
and another has a pull out single bed. The top bedroom has a south facing
balcony with excellent views up and down the valley.
The large open plan kitchen/dining area/sitting
room has a log burner stove, large wooden table with seating for 7 and comfortable sofas.
There is plenty of music and board games/books
available. No telephone and no TV. The large sofa bed pulls out to two good
size single beds. Double doors lead to a full length south facing balcony.
There is one bathroom plus a toilet/shower room and a separate toilet.
Located at the lower edge of the village the chalet is set back from the road on a
private estate of chalets. There is parking in front of the chalet for two cars and
a garage. The ski bus stops every 20 minutes in front of the chalets and being the
first stop is always empty. Alternatively driving to one of the several gondolas
along the valley accessing the skiing is simplicity itself.
Chatel is one of the larger ski resorts which go together to form the Portes de
Soleil ski area, the largest in the world. It manages however to retain its
old world charm and has many restaurants and bars/pubs and several night clubs.
